A course steeped in history

Wentworth is a name woven into the fabric of golf. The West Course, created by renowned architect Harry Colt in the 1920s, quickly gained recognition as one of the finest parkland courses in the world. In June 1926, it staged the very first Ryder Cup match, a contest that grew into one of the most celebrated competitions in sport.

Since 1972, the PGA Championship has been played here, earning Wentworth its reputation as the spiritual home of British golf. Over the years, the West Course has witnessed unforgettable moments from legends such as Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and Francesco Molinari.

The Festival of Golf

The BMW PGA Championship is more than a sporting event. Known as the Festival of Golf, it brings together world-class play and a vibrant social scene. The week begins with the Celebrity Pro-Am, where golfers join forces with stars from sport and entertainment, and the atmosphere builds across the four days of competition. Off the course, visitors can enjoy live music, with Razorlight and Ella Henderson set to perform this year, alongside superb dining and hospitality.

A world-class line-up

This year’s championship promises one of the strongest fields yet. Defending champion Billy Horschel will be back to defend his title. He will be joined by Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy, Masters champions Jon Rahm, Hideki Matsuyama, Patrick Reed and Danny Willett, as well as home favourite Tommy Fleetwood, fresh from his FedExCup triumph.

Fleetwood will line up with Ryder Cup teammates Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Robert MacIntyre and Rasmus Højgaard. In total, 12 Major champions will compete, including Matt Fitzpatrick, Pádraig Harrington, Wyndham Clark and Adam Scott.

Living near the action

For residents of Virginia Water and the Wentworth Estate, the championship is part of the lifestyle. The estate, developed in the 1920’s, stretches across 1,750 acres of mature woodland, private roads and striking homes that surround the club’s three 18-hole courses and 9-hole executive course. Beyond golf, the Wentworth Club offers superb facilities, from tennis courts and swimming pools to first-class dining.

Owning a property here means being at the heart of a community that is both exclusive and welcoming, where international prestige blends with the tranquillity of Surrey’s green belt.

The prize at Wentworth
